Universal healthcare coverage in Egypt aims to provide comprehensive medical services to all citizens, ensuring equitable access to healthcare. Launched with the introduction of the Universal Health Insurance Law in 2018, the system seeks to modernize the healthcare infrastructure and extend coverage to every Egyptian. Despite challenges such as funding and implementation, the system is gradually rolling out in phases across governorates. CNBC Africa’s Flora Limukii spoke to Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman for Egypt Healthcare Authority.
