Leaders deliberate on sustainable development at the Responsible Business Forum

The Responsible Business Forum has made history by hosting its first event in Africa, specifically in South Africa. Leaders from various organizations worldwide gathered at the prestigious Maslow Hotel in Santa to deliberate on pressing issues such as poverty, education, climate change, and unemployment. The forum served as a platform for global deliberations on sustainable development, with attendees emphasizing the importance of dialogue focused on solutions to drive progress. Veracom's chief officer,Vuyane Jakhana, highlighted the significance of consistent action from both business and government to stimulate economic growth, leading to job creation and the promotion of entrepreneurship within South Africa's economy. Nestle South Africa's Ravi Pillay emphasized the positive impact of a healthy relationship between the government and the private sector in advancing sustainable development goals. Leaders from outside Africa expressed enthusiasm and willingness to collaborate with African countries like South Africa to empower the private sector in contributing significantly to national development. The European Union outlined its commitment to facilitating sustainable trade between Europe and Africa by advocating for the right standards, practices, and private sector support.
