Uganda scraps social media tax introduces new data levies

While scrapping the controversial social media tax, the Ugandan government in its annual budget for the 2021-22 financial year introduced a 12 per cent excise duty on internet data usage. The latest move will force 21 million internet users to shell out 12 per cent tax while purchasing data packages, we spoke to the minister of ICT Chris Baryomunsi for more.
