Democratic Republic of Congo plans to review mining sector

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo had demanded a ban on issuing and trading mining permits until the sector has been audited. This comes after the government reviewed its $6 billion “infrastructure-for-minerals” contract with Chinese investors, citing concerns they are not sufficiently benefiting Congo.
